The British comic star says despite the controversy his risque jokes – which included calling US president George Bush a “retarded cowboy” and likening Britney Spears to a “female Christ” – caused at this year’s ceremony on Sunday (07.09.08).

Russell, 33, said: “Most people thought it was great and I’m pleased with how it went. The executive producer came up to me straight after and asked me to sign up to do next year’s awards too.

“The viewing figures went up 20 per cent on last year’s show which is unbelievable. I’m really flattered. However, the VMAs are the hardest thing I have ever done and I will have to think carefully before agreeing to do it again.”

Russell also revealed that for his new film Get Him to the Greek he has kissing scenes with top US pop stars Pink and Katy Perry, as well as a scene alongside singer Christina Aguilera.

He added: “I’ve got a soft spot for Pink and I had to kiss her. We have this scene where we are walking down the road snogging and then I have to be sick. Pink is a lovely woman – a forceful, sexy woman.

“When I was kissing Pink I was thinking, this isn’t work. Those kisses were unprofessional.

“In the scene with Katy Perry – who is really charming – we are on a balcony of a hotel in Rome berating the paparazzi below, kissing and then I wee out of the window.

“Katy is lovely, she is the kind of girl who would slip downstairs lightly.”

Despite not getting intimate in his scene with Christina, Russell described her as “a living doll” and a “perfect object”.

He said: “She is unbelievable. How could you ever talk to her about anything other than sex?”

Get Him to the Greek is scheduled for release in 2009.
