A fan at the Toronto V Festival did what Jay-Z, Mark Ronson and Amy Winehouse might have wanted to do, when he assaulted Oasis guitarist Noel Gallager onstage on Sunday (07.09.08).

The YouTube video shows a man – later revealed to be 47-year-old David Sullivan – attacking Noel during the Manchester band’s performance of (What’s the Story) Morning Glory. Sullivan was later arrested and charged by Toronto police.

Noel returned to the stage a few minutes after the incident, but was hospitalised post-show. His brother, Oasis frontman Liam, had to be restrained for striking back at Sullivan.

Noel has drawn controversy in recent months by suggesting that Jay-Z was a poor choice to headline Glastonbury, that Mark Ronson should learn to play the guitar and that Amy Winehouse is a ‘destitute horse’.

Oasis are gearing up for a UK tour, which will begin 7 October in Liverpool.
