The Step by Step stars – who have yet to confirm rumours they are reforming – are close to completing a new LP after a series of secret recording sessions at a studio in Orlando, Florida.
A source said: “They’ve been working with legendary music manager Irving Azoff. They have been going to a studio in Orlando and recording the album. It’s been going really well and it’s just about done.”
Donnie Wahlberg, Joey McIntyre and Jonathan Knight have been working in the studio together, but it is not known whether Jonathan’s brother Jordan or fifth member Danny Wood are involved in the comeback. Last week, Wood claimed the band had no immediate plans to get back together.
He said: “I wanted to address the rumours of the New Kids on the Block reunion. There has been no talk of this and you are getting it from the source directly. You can’t believe everything you read.”
New Kids on the Block enjoyed huge success during the late 80s and early 90s, selling more than 70 million albums worldwide and topping the charts with hits including Hangin’ Tough.
The band split in 1994 after their fourth LP Face to Face flopped.
