Fagan came face-to-face with the Queen in 1982 when he broke into her bedroom and pulled back the curtains around her bed in Buckingham Palace and the new Sky Arts drama called Walking The Dogs will tell his incredible story.

Eddie Marsan and Russell Tovey will also star in the film which will air as part of the new drama series for Sky Arts called Playhouse Presents.

Michael recently revealed the Queen walked out of the room when she saw him and summoned an unarmed footman who offered him some whisky.

He recalled: “She went past me and ran out of the room; her little bare feet running across the floor.

“The footman came and said, ‘Cor, f***ing hell mate, you look like you need a drink’. His name was [Paul] Whybrew, which is a funny name for someone offering you a drink, innit?

“He took me to the Queen’s pantry, across the landing, where I presume she cooks her baked beans and toast and whatever – and takes a bottle of Famous Grouse from the shelf and pours me a glass of whisky.”
