Love, the widow of Nirvana frontman Kurt Cobain, is said to have ditched a host of material recorded with Linda Perry to collaborate with Micko Larkin, former guitarist with London indie band Larrikin Love.

Perry has previously written songs for Christina Aguilera, Pink and Avril Lavigne. The ditched LP would have been the first since 2004’s America’s Sweetheart – which Perry also worked on – which received a disappointing critical and commercial response. Larrikin Love split last year after making one album, The Freedom Spark, which was released in 2006.

Larkin is believed to have played guitar for Love on a number of occasions. Celebrity Skin singer Love was admitted to hospital last week and diagnosed with Strep throat, a severe sore throat and swelling of the tonsils, but was later released.
