The actress – who is best known for her role as Princess Leia in three Star Wars movies – has suggested she got very close to Ford while they were filming the sci-fi trilogy, after decades of rumours.

Appearing on forthcoming British TV show Bring back… Star Wars, she said: “I went on the film saying, ‘I’m going to have an affair’, like it was a kiwi, an exotic fruit – because I had never had one.”

The 51-year-old actress added: “I’m going to get into so much trouble. Once, I left the room and came back and Harrison was in the closet not wearing a lot of clothes! I had a crush on Harrison for sure. Harrison is great fun when he has had a few drinks.”

The three original Star Wars films starring Fisher and Ford were made between 1977 and 1983.

Fisher has since become a top screenwriter, while Ford is one of the biggest stars in Hollywood history. Fisher says this caused a degree of tension on set between Ford and leading man Mark Hamill, who played Star Wars hero Luke Skywalker.

She said: “Harrison had this enormous career by the second or third film, that was tough for Mark Hamill. He was like, ‘This wasn’t supposed to happen – it’s the adventures of Luke Skywalker’.”

Ford stars in Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull, which opens at cinemas worldwide this summer.
