Blake Fielder-Civil – who is currently in London’s Pentonville Prison awaiting trial on charges of assault and conspiracy to pervert the course of justice – phoned his troubled wife to tell her he had been found unconscious in his cell after attempting to hang himself.
Amy was left distraught by Blake’s confession, but her friends have now persuaded her she would have been informed by the prison if the suicide bid had actually happened.
A source said: “Blake told Amy he had tried to hang himself in his cell. Now it seems it didn’t happen and she’s asking why he’d tell such an awful lie.”
A prison source said: “We can state 100 per cent that he has not been involved in any suicide attempt.”
A note written by Blake has revealed his fear Amy will leave him if she manages to overcome her drugs battle. It read: “Baby, oh darling. I’m so worried that now you’re thinking straight you’ll realise I’m not worthy of you.”
Blake’s friend added: “He wants to pile on the guilt so she can’t leave him. He’s utterly controlling, even when behind bars.”
At last night’s (10.02.08) Grammys, Amy dedicated her five awards to Blake. Speaking via satellite, she said: “This is to my mum and dad – and for my Blake incarcerated.”
