The Madagascar: Escape 2 Africa actor – who has two children, Ella Olivia, six, and three-year-old Quinlin Dempsey with wife Christine Taylor – has banned his brood from seeing anything except his most recent family-friendly films.

Ben, 42, said: “It’s great to be able to share with them something they can enjoy. There are not a lot of films of mine I can show to them – but we’ll get to them eventually.

“I don’t know how long it will take until they can see Dodgeball or even Heavyweights. But I’m guessing we’ll get to both of those films before There’s Something About Mary.”

Ben, whose parents are both actors, admits his children haven’t expressed the same interest in the film industry yet.

He added: “My daughter is not that interested in movies. She’d rather be playing with her dolls, which is good. I think that’s healthy. My son sort of gets showbiz but he’s also more involved with his trains.”

However, Ben insists that he and his wife will be “totally supportive” of whatever career their kids choose to follow.
