Janis Winehouse believes Blake Fielder-Civil is responsible for her daughter’s drug-fuelled lifestyle and despite Amy’s devastation at his arrest, her mother believes it may be the best thing for her.

Janis told First magazine: “I step back, look at life and think, well, I can see life taking care of the situation.

“I was more worried when they were together. I think, while they are apart, she will wake up and think, ‘What have I done?’

“I haven’t spoken to Amy about all this, but I know at the moment she’s living with a friend she’s known since drama school, and I believe she’ll pull through.”

Blake is currently on remand in Pentonville Prison charged with perverting the course of justice.

Amy has been distraught since his arrest, breaking down on stage during a concert and turning on her fans when they booed her erratic behaviour.

Janis and Amy’s father Mitch phoned the emergency services last week when they could not get hold of Amy at her North London home, but the ambulance was sent away.

Amy – who collapsed from a drugs overdose earlier this year and had a bloody brawl in the streets with Blake just weeks later – is determined to stand by her husband, but friends and family hope his incarceration will help her to break free of the destructive relationship.

A friend said: “She is planning to stand by him, whatever the outcome of the case.

“Her friends are trying to pull her the other way now she is no longer under his influence. A number of them are pleased he has been locked away as it gives them a chance to work on her – but she seems determined to stick by him.”

Amy – who is paying Blake’s legal fees – has bought an all-expenses paid trip to India for herself and Blake as a Christmas present in the hope he will be cleared of all charges and released in time.

The couple married in Miami in May, without telling any of their family or friends.
