ALAN CARR has said sorry for using kidnap mum Karen Matthews in a joke.

Talking at this weekend’s British Comedy Awards about the trouble he’d had casting a scene for one of his TV shows, Carr said: “It is a bit difficult to find rough women. I suppose Shannon Matthew’s mum was busy.”
“Oh yeah, she would be my dream guest. I think she’s a gay icon. I must be obsessed with her actually if you look at my Google searches. So I should dedicate this award to her.”
Now Carr has backtracked, saying: “I realise what I said about Karen Matthews was insensitive and am very sorry for any offence this may have caused.”
Karen Matthews was found guilty last week of kidnapping her own daughter, Shannon, in a bid to claim an expected reward.
