Italian-American pizzeria owner Sal has operated in his neighbourhood of Brooklyn for 25 years, to the chagrin of his son Pino, who is unabashed about his dislike of African-American locals. Mookie is one of the pizzeria's delivery drivers. One of his friends demands that Sal put up a few African-American celebrities on the pizzeria's wall of fame. When Sal refuses, arguing that he has the right to run his business as he sees fit, tensions ignite, leading to a violent confrontation.
