Four days before his 29th birthday, Nino Clavel attends a routine medical appointment and learns he has throat cancer caused by the human papillomavirus (HPV). He prepares for the start of chemotherapy as blissfully ignorant friends and family focus on his birthday celebrations. Treatment will prevent Nino from fathering children so he prepares for all eventualities and goes to visit his mother.
