Single mother Rachel is at her wit’s end trying to raise the spirits and the self-esteem of her teenage son Sam. She reaches out to her ex-husband Frank and discovers that he couldn’t care less about his boy and would prefer to booze and womanise to excess with his boss Bill. In desperation, Rachel devises an elaborate plan to make Frank think that he is dying in the hope that mortality will jolt him back to his senses. Sure enough, impending death makes Frank reconnect with Sam.
