Ross MacGibbon directs a special film version of Carlos Acosta's dance production in three acts for Birmingham Royal Ballet, recorded in February 2022 on the stage of Birmingham Hippodrome. Inspired by Miguel de Cervantes's early 17th-century novel, Don Quixote follows the eponymous knight and his trusty servant Sancho Panza as they become intimately involved in the affairs of young lovers Kitri and Basilio, whose hopes of marriage are thwarted by Kitri's disapproving father.
