In a career spanning almost 50 years, Canadian musician Leonard Cohen is perhaps best known as the writer of the soaring lament Hallelujah, which was famously covered by John Cale and then Jeff Buckley. This documentary uses the song as a framing device for their feature-length tribute to the poet and singer including never-before-seen archival materials from the Cohen Trust such as personal notebooks, journals, photographs, performance footage, audio recordings and interviews.
