Hackney Marshes

An area of grassland on the western bank of the River Lea. Small areas of the march have been taken for housing and sports fields but areas have also been added. Part of the Marsh was taken to build the National Projectile Factory but after World War I it was used to create Mabley Green. Part of the Olympic Park is being built on Hackney Marshes which has caused controversy amongst the local residents.

Opening Times: All year.

Nearest Station: The area is not the best served by transport but there are many buses running to and from station stops. The nearest London Overground station is Hackney Wick and is a 20 minutes walk to Hackney Marsh.
