BORIS JOHNSON declared himself "baffled" after winning the Best Celebrity Hair Award yesterday.
The London Mayor pipped breakfast TV host and stiff gel user Ben Shepherd to first place, while carrot-top Prince Harry claimed the bronze medal in the poll of 1,300 people by hair product stalwarts Brycreem.
"I'm baffled but delighted by this award, but thank you very much to everyone who voted for me," Johnson said.
"I'm afraid that other people probably pay more attention to my barnet than I do and over the years I've had various suggestions for what to do with it including a Mohawk.
"However, the Johnson hairstyle is, I fear, impossible to imitate, as it is a product of random and competing forces of nature."
In a parallel Worst Celebrity Hair survey, back-combing expert Russell Brand was voted the winner, with his floppy-fringed partner in phone crime Jonathan Ross ranked second.
