'He's brought shame on himself,' says investigator
THE SACK was the reward handed down yeasterday to a Metropolitan police sergeant caught having sex with the prostitute he was meant to be investigating.
Manjit Johal, 43, was told to resign his post after a damning verdict by the Independent Police Complaints Commission (IPCC), which found Johal guilty of misconduct and abuse of authority.
"The sergeant's behaviour was disgraceful," said the IPCC's Deborah Glass. "He has brought shame on himself and his former colleagues."
In 2005, Johal went to a flat in Walthamstow that police suspected of being a brothel and ended up indulging his lust with a woman who worked on the premises.
"I am pleased the Metropolitan Police has shown a robust approach to misconduct in this case," said Glass on Johal's forced-resignation.
