Icicles, crystals and snow add the seasonal atmosphere

London Eye Goes Blue for Christmas.

THE LONDON EYE is going all Christmassy from today.

Giant glistening icicles, falling snowflakes and frosty crystals will decorate the area around the Eye, while the wheel itself will be coloured ice-blue for the rest of the month.

To add to the seasonal atmosphere, sounds of ice cracking, howling winds and crunching snow plus scents of mulled wine and Christmas trees will be piped out.

Perhaps one reason the Eye has pulled out the Yuletide stops is because there's a new kid on the block in the shape of the temporary big wheel at Winter Wonderland in Hyde Park. Luckily, this town is big enough for the both of them, especially as this time of the year is all about sharing and that.

The London Eye Christmas theme begins at 4pm today.
