Harrods, London. Photo Credit: La Sequencia. C.C.LicenseHaving made your way to South Kensington via the Piccadilly, Circle or District Lines, a shopping heaven awaits. Those after a spot of retail therapy will find themselves in awe (not to mention exhausted!) after a few hours wandering around the lavish quarter of the capital. Though be warned - the purse strings might be a little worse for wear.

Having made your way to South Kensington via the Piccadilly, Circle or District Lines, a shopping heaven awaits. Turn right into the station arcade then head down Cromwell Place (above right once home to the artist Francis Bacon) to the magnificent Natural History Museum. At the end of Cromwell Place, take a right and head down Brompton Road where you'll pass the Victoria and Albert Museum and Brompton Oratory (above, left) on your left. Shopping excursions are all day of a job so don't think of stopping to investigate! Instead keep walking until you hit Knightsbridge.

Home to London's world-famous department stores Harrod's and Harvey Nichols (known as "Harvey Nics"), Knightsbridge is a posh-shoppers paradise. If you're not careful, you'll spend all day in Harrods (right) alone with its six football pitch sized floors. If time is of the essence then ensure you make the Food Hall your priority. There's nowhere else in the world with as many different exotic smells and aromas.

Versace? Calvin? Ralph? Then you must visit Harvey Nics dahling. A favourite of Ab Fab's Patsy and Edina, the store is where you'll find clothes made by leading designers as well as the more obscure. Stop by the café/bar for a quick breather and a chance to do some serious celeb spotting.
