The National Film Theatre in London hosts a rare double bill of Luis Bunuel’s first two directorial features. Un Chien Andalou comprises a series of hypnotic and surreal images spliced together without any tangible narrative structure, including ants crawling in the palm of a hand and a man dragging a grand piano along a street. The film’s most notorious sequence shows a woman’s eye being slit open.
