The charming true story of New Zealand motorcycle enthusiast Burt Munro, whose lifelong dream was to travel to the Bonneville Salt Flats in Utah and try to set a land speed record on his lovingly restored 1920 Indian. With the support of the local community, especially his young next door neighbour Tom, Burt uses all of his savings to embark on the round the world journey, meeting lovable characters along the way, including transvestite hotel receptionist Tina and a lonely spinster looking for male company for the night.
