Yannick Nezet-Seguin conducts Michael Mayer’s staging of Verdi’s passionate and thrilling opera, which was recorded live on the stage of the Lincoln Center For The Performing Arts in New York. The story is based on The Lady Of The Camellias by Alexandre Dumas, and charts the romantic travails of a courtesan who denies her lover in order to protect the honour of her family. Violetta is gravely ill and is prone to dreadful coughing fits, but insists on a busy social life to keep her male clients satisfied.
