Thomas Jerome Newton is an alien from the dying planet of Anthea, which desperately needs water to survive a catastrophic drought. In order to raise the money needed to build a spaceship that can ship water from Earth to Anthea, Newton uses his advanced intelligence to patent numerous inventions and establish World Enterprises Corporation. Company employee Nathan Bryce senses something is awry with Newton and sets out to expose the billionaire as an otherworldly being.
