Antony Byrne and Josette Simon smoulder as the titular lovers in Shakespeare’s romantic tragedy, which follows the blood-spattered events in Julius Caesar. Following the fall of Julius Caesar, Mark Antony rises to power and shares control of the Roman Empire with Octavius Caesar and Lepidus. However, Mark Antony neglects his position to pursue carnal desires with his beautiful mistress Cleopatra. Iqbal Khan’s bold staging is broadcast live from the Royal Shakespeare Theatre in Stratford-upon-Avon.
