In 1998, flamboyant Italian cyclist Marco Pantani won the Tour de France and Giro d’Italia in the same year. Six years later, Pantani was found dead in a cheap Italian hotel. He was alone and had apparently died from acute cocaine poisoning. This documentary charts the rise and fall of a record-breaking sportsman, eliciting contributions from the people closest to Pantani as well as some of cycling’s most successful and charismatic figures.
