Prot is a resident at a New York psychiatric hospital with a fantastical personal history: he claims to be an alien visitor from the planet K-PAX. Dr Mark Powell treats Prot’s claims with a pinch of salt yet he is unable to explain the positive effect Prot has on all the other patients. When Prot announces that his time on Earth is coming to an end, Dr Powell is forced to consider his patient might be telling the truth.
