I Called Him Morgan

On February 19, 1972 at Slug’s Saloon jazz club in New York City, Helen Moore shot dead her partner, 33-year-old trumpeter Lee Morgan. The musician bled to death waiting for the ambulance to arrive on treacherously icy roads and Helen served time for the killing. This documentary includes audio testimony from a common-law wife found guilty of murder, photographs, archive footage and revealing interviews to reexamine a crime that shocked the jazz community.
