No-good thieves Purvis and Buddy desecrate the burial ground of a tribe of troglodytes and steal artefacts, which they subsequently bury on the outskirts of the small town of Bright Hope. The cannibalistic cave dwellers attack the town, kidnapping Purvis, doctor’s wife Samantha O’Dwyer and sheriff’s deputy Nick. Sheriff Franklin Hunt and his ageing deputy Chicory launch a suicidal rescue mission accompanied by Samantha’s distraught husband Arthur and resident womaniser John Brooder.
