Originally broadcast on CBeebies and now remastered for the big screen, Northern Ballet’s accessible staging of the classic children’s story is choreographed by Dreda Blow and Sebastian Loe to original music composed by Bruno Merz. Anita Rai reads aloud the story for cinema audiences as professional dancers inhabit the shell, paws and claws of crittery characters. Tortoise grows tired of hearing Hare’s boasts and challenges the speedy mammal to a race.
