It seems some people in finance don’t have to worry about their jobs these days. Claire Kent, a former managing director for the financial services firm Morgan Stanley, has just joined French Connection as a non-executive director.

Drapers reported this morning that Kent, who has been working with clothing and luxury brands since the early 1990s, had joined the high-street chain. A European retail analysis for the luxury-brands sector has ranked her first in her field for the past nine years.
Previously, Kent has made the news for publicly questioning whether designer Alessandra Facchinetti could successfully assume Tom Ford’s head position at Gucci. (Facchinetti left Gucci after two seasons, was just ousted at Valentino after two seasons, and is now being tipped to revive the Rochas brand.)
Kent additionally was accused of producing biased research against LVMH in 2006, in a case that originally found Morgan Stanley liable for €30million in damages. The Paris Court of Appeal later reversed the ruling, however, clearing Kent’s name.
