Frida and roommate Jess wait tables at an annual fundraising gala dinner hosted by charming billionaire Slater King. Following the dinner service, Frida catches Slater’s eye and he whisks the roommates away to a private island with his entourage. The roommates embrace the psychedelic drug-fuelled hedonism but something is dreadfully off-kilter in paradise and guests will lose much more than access to their mobile phones.

Following the death of her mother, teenager Gretchen begrudgingly moves to the Bavarian Alps with her father Luis, stepmother Beth and half-sister Alma, who does not speak. The relocation is connected to the construction of a hotel masterminded by Herr Konig. It’s a tough readjustment for the teenager and Gretchen’s disorientation is exacerbated by a series of strange occurrences at the hotel including the appearance of a menacing hooded woman.

Disillusioned music teacher JJ is called to a police station in Belfast to act as translator for a suspect, Liam, who insists that he only speaks Irish. During the interview, JJ conceals Liam’s notebook and inside the teacher finds song lyrics, also written in Irish. JJ avoids charges and Liam approaches the young man and pal Naoise with a proposal to form a hip hop group that celebrates the Irish language. Liam and Naoise christen their outfit Kneecap.
