The royal married Canadian Autumn Kelly in May and the couple sold the rights to the ceremony to gossip magazine Hello! in a rumoured £500,000 deal.

Prince Harry was said to be “incensed” that photographs of his girlfriend, Chelsea Davy, featured in the magazine’s spread, while Prince William was also said to be angry that pictures of his girlfriend Kate Middleton were published.

A source is quoted on the MailOnline website as saying: “Their behaviour has been likened to that of a footballer and his WAG – and, make no mistake, it has infuriated senior members of the Royal Family and their staff.

“Some even ripped up the thank-you letters that Peter and Autumn sent out, such is their bitterness about what happened.”

Peter and Autumn have since moved to Hong Kong – where Peter has taken a three-year banking job – but neither of the princes attended the couple’s going away party as they were both on holiday.

The source added: “This was done without their knowledge. Neither Peter nor the magazine sought their approval – and if they had, it would not have been given. What happened has not gone down well at all.

“It’s a shame this has happened, as Peter is a wonderful guy of whom they are very fond.”
