Unfortunately, the being in question – Dr Manhattan – isn’t a messiah come to put an end to the recession, but a spectacular stunt in promotion of the Watchmen movie, which premieres in London on Friday.

Using the world’s biggest water screen projector, a liquid backdrop some 70 feet tall and 100 feet wide will be created for the arrival of Dr Manhattan (played by Billy Crudup in the movie), whose bluey, translucent form, along with other bits and pieces from the film, will then hover over central London.

It all takes place from 8pm on the South Bank, between the London Eye and the Shell Building.
