San Francisco police detective John “Scottie” Ferguson retires from active duty after his extreme fear of heights leads to the death of a fellow officer during a rooftop chase. Old college friend Gavin Elster hires Scottie to follow his beautiful wife Madeleine, who Gavin sincerely believes is possessed by the spirit of her great-grandmother.
