Six-year-old Frida is suddenly transplanted to the home of her paternal uncle Esteve, his wife Marga and their cute daughter Anna. Frida’s parents have both died but the family is oddly reluctant to discuss the details of the passing with inquisitive Frida. Frustrated by this wall of silence, little Frida channels her inner turmoil at innocent and helpless Anna. Meanwhile, Frida’s grandmother Maria shares her religious fervour and the little girl adopts a statue of the Virgin Mary as a confidante.
