In a dystopian future, genetic clones are bred and nurtured to provide vital organs for humans. Three such clones - Ruth, Tommy and Kathy - grow up together at Hailsham boarding school where headmistress Miss Emily and teacher Miss Lucy encourage their artistic sensibilities.
