In early 1980s South Africa, 18-year-old Nicholas Van der Swart prepares for two years of compulsory military service. He arrives at the Afrikaans-controlled barracks ruled with an iron fist by sadistic Sergeant Brand, who delights in brandishing the homophobic slur “moffie” for any recruit that fails to make the grade. Nicholas is slowly coming to terms with his sexuality. Those buried desires threaten to bubble to the surface when Nicholas meets handsome fellow recruit Dylan Stassen.
