In May 1983, 18-year-old Grzegorz Przemyk, son of poet Barbara Przemyk, is celebrating the end of high school with his good friend Jurek. The teenagers are in high spirits in the centre of Warsaw when two policemen stop them and ask for identification. Grzegorz resists and, during a scuffle at the police station, officers beat the teenager in front of Jurek. He subsequently dies in hospital. The Ministry of Internal Affairs and other powerful figures orchestrate a cover-up.
