Documentarian Mo Scarpelli follows her partner, Jorge Thielen Armand, as he attempts to rebuild bridges to his estranged Venezuela father, Jorge Thielen Hedderich, by making a fiction film based on the old man's escapades in the 1990s in the Amazon jungle. Jorge, who has struggled with addiction and is living in exile, excitedly agrees to play himself on screen and the subsequent war of attrition between director and egotistical star threatens to bring the film shoot to a grinding halt.
