Nineteenth century Tennessee farmer John Bell lives with his wife Lucy and daughter Betsy in the sleepy community of Red River. Visited by an unknown presence, the Bells suffer a mounting sense of dread, escalating into brutal physical and psychological torment as the invisible force lashes out at Betsy and her loved ones.
