The eleven man-sized works of art that Bonhams will auction on behalf of The Prostate Cancer Charity on February 24 bears witness to the little known fact that one in 11 British men will contract this form of cancer.

Artists involved in the project range from one of the godfathers of British Pop Art, Gerald Laing, to some of the biggest names in street art, namely Blek le Rat, Nick Walker and D*Face. Dan Baldwin, Andrew McAttee, Ben Eine and Pure Evil are all familiar faces to Urban Art auction buyers, while Mr Jago, Xenz, and Peter Fowler are rising stars who will be appearing in auction at Bonhams for the first time. Each artist has created a unique work using a standard size 175 x 60cm canvas, the size of the average man.
The Prostate Cancer Charity is the UK’s leading charity working with people affected by prostate cancer. The Charity is fighting prostate cancer on every front – through research, support, information and campaigning.
Bonham’s Urban Art specialist, Alan Montgomery, comments: “Bonhams is pleased to be involved in the sale of these eleven works, particularly in light of the quality and range of the artists’ work featured. We expect a great deal of interest in the sale. Prostate cancer is the most common cancer in men in the UK with 35,000 diagnosed every year.'”
The first chance to see the works will be at a preview in Shoreditch, the spiritual home of Street Art, with all eleven pieces being shown at a special exhibition in the Truman Brewery between 12 and 17 February before heading off to Bonhams’ New Bond Street gallery, where they will be on view from 22-24 February and sold on the 24 February at 7pm.
