Town idiot Kit is madly in love with schoolgirl Wing, who lives with her grandmother, safe from harm. When the matriarch dies, Wing is plunged into the black hole of foster care but she is thankfully saved by Kit. Seeds of romance are sown but before they can blossom, Kit watches helplessly as a drunkard abuses the girl, believing her to be a prostitute. To make matters worse, the perpetrator is a cop, so he is safe from prosecution and the eyes of the law.
