Captain Ashwat Rana and Captain Ambalika are heavily involved in the 1998 nuclear bomb tests conducted by the Indian Army at Pokhran in Rajasthan. They are the first tests since 1974, intended to confirm India as a fully-fledged nuclear state. However, the explosions draw condemnation from the rest of the world and Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee faces a raft of sanctions intended to halt India’s production of fusion and fission bombs.
