Mahir works as a schoolteacher in the west of 1961 Turkey. He is transferred unwillingly to a small village in the east, which doesn’t even have a school. At first, the gun-toting locals are suspicious of Mahir but once they learn he is a teacher, everyone in the poverty-stricken community welcomes him with open arms and comes together to build a school. Cultural and language barriers are broken down thanks to Mahir but when winter comes, the village is cut off as usual from the outside world.
