Biopic of early 20th century French painter, Seraphine de Senlis, whose identity remains a secret until German art collector Wilhelm Uhde rents a room in the village and stumbles upon one of her canvases. To her friends and neighbours, Seraphine is an overweight, bumbling and slightly eccentric cleaning woman who fades into the background. Yet to Wilhelm, she is a dazzling force of nature and the collector sets about befriending her.
