Struggling businessman Basil learns about a series of bank foreclosures in Denver. The day after Christmas, when he should be celebrating with loved ones, Basil boards a plane to view the properties, which he hopes to buy from the banks at rock-bottom prices, then refurbish and sell on to new owners for a sizable profit. Basil hires chauffeur Nick to ferry him from one property to the next. As the weather deteriorates, the two men become stranded in the wilderness.
