London Eye: River Cruises on the Thames
Our watery picks:
London Eye River Cruises
The official British Airways London Eye River cruises are a popular choice. Services depart and arrive from Jubilee Pier adjacent to the wheel.
Bateaux London
A mainstay of the capital's river cruise industry, Bateaux London operates lunch, dinner and jazz cruises along the Thames. Pick up and drop-off points are at Waterloo or Embankment Piers.
The Tate Boat
Art lovers can travel by ferry from Pimlico's Tate Britain down river to the South Bank's trendy Tate Modern. The Tate Boat runs every forty minutes during gallery opening hours and features a stop at the British Airways London Eye. Alight at Jubilee Pier.
Or for something completely different:
London Ducktours
Take to the capital's roads and river astride a World War Two amphibious vehicle (a.k.a. Duck, or DUKW to use the military name). London's Ducktours run from County Hall, next to the London Eye.
Our tip is to tell the kids that you're all going on a 'boring' run-off-the-mill city tour and watch their little faces as your aquatic tour bus splashes into the river. Believe us, it works every time.
Once underway, the yellow Duck passes by all the major sights of central London using a mixed route covering both road and river.
