The protest, which was 2000 women strong, was highlighting society's continued reluctance to deal with violence against women, repressive sexual objectification and eschewed rape conviction rates a.o. The women marched from Whitehall Place to Euston from 6.30pm to 8.30pm in a noisy ecstasy of whistles, chants, drums of all shapes, sounds and sizes, and gathered strength en route as London's startled pedestrians applauded and supported the protest.
