East London dressed up this weekend with an East-meets-West display of contemporary jewellery in Newham’s Stratford Town Hall. The Discover Jewellery Show highlighted styles from 22 Green Street designers and boutique owners, many of whom put an avant-garde twist on centuries-old South Asian techniques.
The show was part of the first-ever Coutts London Jewellery Week – organised to help show off the best of the East End and revitalise the area that will host the 2012 Olympics. Another highlight of the week was the Swarovski Runway Rocks show, which sparkled with pieces from designers like Hussein Chalayan, Marios Schwab and Julien MacDonald.
Christopher Kane also presented. Maybe spending food money on some of the jewellery would make it a little easier to fit into his famously tight Posh Spice-style dresses from a few seasons ago.
